Singaraja- Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Undiksha held a Public Lecture with the theme “Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics in the Education for Sustainable Development Approach”, on Wednesday (19/10/2022). This activity is a medium to strengthen understanding in applying learning methods, especially for students.
Public lecture taking place hybrid This event presented Lampung University academics, Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman, M.Si., as resource person. The participants consisted of lecturers and students in the FMIPA environment.
Dean of FMIPA Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nengah Suparta, M.Sc., said that this public lecture was a space to improve and broaden students’ insight in applying learning approaches or methods, especially those related to science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. “Every student is expected to have knowledge in these five fields in order to convey learning material. “So students’ insight will become broader, we hope,” he explained.
Apart from this public lecture, continued Suparta, FMIPA also has many scientific meeting programs. One of the things that is routinely carried out by each department is academic seminars which are an opportunity for students to obtain additional information outside of lectures.
This activity was opened by the Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation at Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I. He hopes that through this public lecture, students’ ability to innovate in the application of learning methods will increase. Likewise with critical thinking and other creativity students can become a generation that is ready to face future challenges. “There (learning media-ed) I am sure there will be collaboration and communication that will take place,” he said.
Through this public lecture, according to Rasben Dantes, students will also get a different perspective from the resource person regarding learning methods. So that in the future students who will become teachers or professionals can also share their knowledge, both in the school environment and in other places. “So I hope this provides very important benefits for students,” he said.
