Singaraja – As an effort to increase environmental awareness and apply the principles of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Department of Marine Biology and Fisheries, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Ganesha Education University held an academic seminar entitled “The Role of Academics in Sustainable Environmental Development Efforts.” by presenting 2 speakers, namely Dr. Ir. Ketut Srie Marhaeni Julyasih, M.Sc. and Alexander Korinus Marantika, S.Pi., M.P.
The event which took place in the Seminar Room of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences on Wednesday, 25 October 2023, was attended by lecturers, students, and staff in the Department of Biology and Marine Fisheries, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. This activity aims to provide a better understanding of the importance of protecting the environment and how SDG principles can be integrated and is one of the programs to support sustainable development which aims to improve the welfare of the world community.
Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Dr. I Wayan Sukra Warpala, S.Pd., M.Sc in his speech expressed his hope that through this activity, participants could better understand their respective roles and responsibilities in maintaining environmental sustainability. “We hope that this event can be the first step towards positive change in efforts to preserve the environment and sustainable development at Undiksha, especially within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences,” he said.
The next speech from the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Dr. I Wayan Sukra Warpala, S.Pd., M.Sc said that seminar participants could take part in the activities seriously and understand the material presented. He said that environmental issues have become a global issue and are of concern to all of us, therefore let’s work together. listen and understand concrete steps for environmental management using the SDGs approach.
