Singaraja- Another international achievement has been made by UNDIKSHA or Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha students. In this time was from the IPITEx or International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation, and Technology Exposition Event 2021 in Bangkok. In the announcement on May 3rd, 2021, the UNDIKSHA Team won six medals.
In this annual event, there were six teams representing UNDIKSHA. The first team is Eco Paving Block, which consisted of three people, namely Gede Gery Apriliana Putra (Chemistry Study Programme), I Putu Raka Nata (Physics Education Study Programme), and Ni Komang Sarini Dewi (English Language Education Study Programme). This team was accompanied by Dr. I Dewa Ketut Sastrawidana, M.Si. Eco Paving Block is an environmentally preferable product made from aggregate of plastic waste and rice husk waste. This product won a silver medal.
The second team, namely Helen Cosmetics, consisted of Gede Gery Apriliana Putra (Chemistry Study Programme), Ronia Apriani (Chemistry Study Programme), Made Irma Meliana Dewi (Chemistry Study Programme), Ni Luh Ayu Suandewi (English Language Education Study Programme), Ni Putu Ayu Yuli Sumadianti (Bachelor Programme of Accounting Study Programme) and Putu Vijanitha Satha (Bachelor Programme of Accounting Study Programme). This team was accompanied by Dr. I Nyoman Tika M.Si. Helen Cosmetics products are organic and an environmentally preferable skincare product made from prayer waste, restaurant waste, and agricultural waste. This product won a bronze medal.
The third team was Le Lac Coffee. This team consisted of five people, namely Ketut Widya Astuti (English Language Education Study Programme), Gede Gery Apriliana Putra (Chemistry Study Programme), Ronia Apriani (Chemistry Study Programme), I Wayan Widnyana (Management Study Programme), and Ni Wayan Dian Yusmara Yanti (Bachelor Programme of Accounting Study Programme). This team was accompanied by Dr. I Nyoman Tika M.Si. Le Lac Coffee product, namely civet coffee made from local coffee beans from Wanagiri Village with creative, innovative and environmentally preferable fermentation technology using local isolate bacteria and bacteria isolated from the civet intestines. Through this technology, the civet coffee production process is faster, production capacity is increased, production costs are low because there is no need to cultivate civet animals, and the civet animals are preserved in the wild. This product won a silver medal.
The fourth team consisted of I Wayan Mahaksa Kumaratungga, Putu Gede Semara Putra, Cantika Oktariza Dewi, and Putu Wina Maharani. These students from the Faculty of Medicine presented the invention “BRIANA: Advance Detection and Image Enhancement for Breast Cancer Using Deep Learning”. This invention uses artificial intelligence or AI methods to detect the presence of breast cancer cells in a connective tissue after a biopsy or often called histopathology of breast cancer. This invention helps the medical team to search for cancer cells in connective tissue using AI as a working “partner” for clinical pathologists. This invention won a gold medal.
The fifth team consisted of I Bagus Ngurah Alit Putra Wiryawan, Ni Made Radha Jiwantini, I Putu Albert Purnama Putra, I Wayan Arnata, and Cokorda Gde Krisparinama. This team presented the invention “Cellbrator: Lithium-Ion Batteries Separator from Solid Waste Algae Eucheuma Cottonii”. This invention won a gold medal. The sixth team, consisted of Dimas Fadhilah Aprilian Santoso (Management Study Programme), Ficky Amalia (Management Study Programme), Ni Komang Aprilia Enisari (Bachelor Degree of Accounting Study Programme), Ni Komang Sarini Dewi (English Language Education Study Programme), Ni Made Sania Indri Wahyuni (English Language Education Study Programme), Putu Adi Sumariawan (Management Study Programme), and Sugeng Santoso (Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Programme). The invention displayed was “Poc Loh Gending: An Agrochemistry Solution for the Sustainable Indonesian Food Sovereignty”. This invention won a bronze medal.
One of the team members, Gery Apriliana Putra, said that participation in this event began with the submission of inventions from December 2020 to January 2021. After going through a number of stages, the results were announced on May 3rd, 2021. “Participants in this event come from various countries in Asia and Europe. More than 10 countries,” he said, Tuesday (5/4/2021)
He continued, “This achievement is an honor because it can bring and make UNDIKSHA and Indonesia proud in the international competitions”. “My own hope is that there will be more UNDIKSHA students who achieve in the national and international competitions,” he hoped. Meanwhile, Mahaksa Kumaratungga hoped that the inventions included in the event could continue to be developed and received further attention from universities and other related parties. “Hopefully the invention can enter the advanced test stage and can be used by hospitals and several labs,” he hoped.
Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations of UNDIKSHA, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., gave his appreciation to these students for having succeeded in making achievements from the IPITEx event. “This is an honor, because in the Covid-19 pandemic, UNDIKSHA students are still enthusiastic about achieving. This is an extraordinary achievement,” he said. He further stated that this achievement was not only important to improve the competitiveness of students, but also universities, both nationally and internationally. “Clustering of universities cannot be separated from student achievement. Of course, we appreciate this achievement,” he said.
UNDIKSHA very focused on improving student achievement. Participation in the competition was strictly selected. It was hoped that this would always be supported by the entire academic community. “Guidance and mentoring continue to be maximized. That is UNDIKSHA’s effort to continue to improve performance,” he said. In addition to the achievements in this event, Suastra added that UNDIKSHA also continued to strive to increase the number of entrepreneurial students who are also the Rector’s work contract with the Ministry.
